Bluegrass
Speedway Compact Division 2011 Rules
1.
Four
cylinder front wheel drive cars only (excluding Honda CRX, Mitsubishi Eclipse,
and Eagle Talon). No all wheel
drive. No convertibles, no trucks, no
two seat coupes. Strictly an economy
based class. No performance
modifications of any type will be allowed.
All decisions on rules are final.
There are no protests. No
drivers competing in other divisions at Bluegrass Speedway will be allowed to compete.
2.
Cars
must have stock frame, stock firewall, and stock floor pan. Any opening in firewall and floor pan must
be covered. No reinforcing of body
outside of the drivers compartment. All
exterior trim, including lights, body molding, mirrors, etc. must be
removed. Stock body panels and stock
bumpers are to be used. Bumpers must
remain in stock position and be secured and chained so they don’t fall off if
impacted. All doors must be welded or
bolted shut. Hood must be secured with
a minimum of two hood pins. All glass
must be removed from the vehicle except front windshield. Front windshield can be replaced with Lexan
or remain open ((if no windshield is used, a minimum of three bars must run
vertical in front of driver at windshield opening). All other glass openings are to remain open. No spoilers.
3.
All
flammable interior trim is to be removed from passenger compartments and
trunk. No removal of any interior sheet
metal panels except in drivers door to make room for cage. Stock instrument cluster shall remain in
place. Heating and air conditioning box
may be removed. Steering column and
pedals must remain stock. All air bag
components must be removed.
4.
A
full four point roll cage is required.
All cars must have minimum of three door bars on the drivers side and
two on passenger side. Minimum ¼” thick
plate must be welded or bolted to the outside of the drivers side door
bars. Cages must be welded or bolted to
the floor of the car. No portion of any
bar or cage may be attached to or touch any portion of a strut tower. A maximum of two rear down bars may be used
to support the hoop. These bars may run
from the top of the hoop behind the driver and extend to the trunk area. A single cross bar of “X” may be used between
these down bars. Rear down bars must be
attached to the trunk floor. Main cage
must have at least two bars running from left to right, between the uprights,
behind the driver-one bar at floor level and one bar a shoulder height of the
drivers. Roll cage padding is
recommended.
5.
Racing
seat required. Seat must be securely
bolted to a mount assembly that is an integral part of the roll cage
assembly. A five-point safety harness
is mandatory. Approved racing helmets
(Snell 95 or newer) must be worn.
Helmet must bear proper identification and have no signs of previous
damaga. Cars with electrical fuel pumps
should have a Master Power switch mounted it is easily accessible by the
driver, safety personnel, and track officials.
Master Power switch must be clearly labeled as such. All safety equipment is subject to
inspection and approval by Bluegrass Speedway track officials.
6.
All
four wheels and tires must be the same size, series, and offset. D.O.T. approved passenger car tires
only. No “made for racing” tires and no
low profile tires. All tires must be
non-Directional, All-Season Radials. No
Asymmetrical tires. Tires can be 13,
14, or 15 inches maximum. They can be a
60, 65, 70, or 75 series. A maximum of
7-inch width for 15 inch wheels and 6½ inches for 14-inch wheels. All four wheels must be the same size and no
offset. No racing or aluminum wheels
allowed. Wheels must maintain same size
and offset, 7 inches maximum, but must maintain same size and offset and OEM. No rear wheel drive offset wheels will be
allowed. No spacers behind wheels. Front camber 2% maximum, rear camber 1%
maximum.
7.
Steering
and suspension shall remain stock. Only
OEM style shocks, struts, and springs allowed.
No heating or cutting of springs allowed. Spring rubbers will be allowed (but only one per wheel). No progressive rate springs allowed. A maximum of 1½ inches of camber measured 90
degrees from bottom of tire will be allowed.
For cars that do have camber adjustments built in from the factory,
modification of existing parts, to allow for camber adjustments will be
allowed, but will subject to inspection and approval by Bluegrass Speedway
track officials.
8.
All
four brakes must remain stock. No ABS,
wheel spin, or traction control of any kind permitted. All ABS sensors must be disabled.
9.
Cars
that have fuel tanks mounted in front of rear axle may use stock tank. Stock fuel tank must have two additional
safety straps wrapped from frame to frame.
If tank is not mounted in front of rear axle, a fuel cell (maximum 12
gallon capacity) must be used and securely mounted in the trunk area of the
car. Trunk mounted tanks cannot be
mounted within 10 inches of the rear trunk panel and may not extend beyond the
side frame rails. All fuel tank
installations must be centered between the rear wheels. Only straight pump gasoline may be
used. No racing fuel or aviation fuel
will be allowed for use.
10. Only four-cylinder
naturally aspirated engines allowed. No
rotary engines. No turbos. Only the complete stock engine for the car
as delivered from the factory. Stock
intake manifold must be used with no modifications. Stock exhaust manifold must be used with no modifications. No headers, even if delivered from the
factory. Removal of smog, emission, air
conditioning, and power steering parts are permitted. Must use stock style starter.
Battery may be relocated to an area behind the driver. If moved, the battery must be secured and
covered. Transmission must remain stock
and unmodified for that vehicle’s production.
Transmission must have a working forward and reverse gears.
11. A complete exhaust
must be in place completely under the vehicle.
No portion of exhaust may pass through interior and must exit under
vehicle behind the driver. Removal of
catalytic converter is allowed. No
weight or ballast are allowed to be added to car.
12. No radio communication
of any kind allowed.
