Battle of the Bluegrass Mod Squad Bash Goes at Bluegrass Speedway on May 16

Bardstown, KY-May 10, 2009- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will present another edition of “Saturday Night Showtime” this Saturday evening May 16 when the ½ mile Nelson County clay oval host the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series in the 9th Annual Mod Squad Bash, paying $1,500 to win for the open-wheel division.

The Saturday May 16 program will showcase the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified division in the 9th Annual Mod Squad Bash, which will feature a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,500 to win 9th Annual Mod Squad Bash Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series A-Main. Also in action on Saturday May 16 will be the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, racing for $1,000 to win in their 25 lap main event and the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman division in a 15 lap, $200 to win main event, with the Street Stock division having the night off. The Modified and Super Late Model divisions will time trial, while the Sportsman division will pill draw for heat race starting assignments. Previous winners of the Mod Squad Bash include Joe Mattingly (2001), Benji Lee (2002), Josh Lucas (2003), Kelly Warren (2004), Ted Nobbe (2005), Don Adams (2006), and Joey Kramer (2007, 2008).

Activities for the Saturday May 16 event will have the pit area opening at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand area opening at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:00 p.m., while racing will see the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m. For the Saturday May 16 event, general admission in the grandstand area will be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free. A pit pass will be $30.

Bluegrass Speedway is also proud to be one of only 60 tracks in the nation to have the prestigious Contingency Connection national contingency program for our racers in 2009. The Contingency Connection will have over $50,000 in national contingency postings up for grabs.
