Neat,
Cecil, Lucas, and Hagan Close Out ’08 Bluegrass Speedway Season
Bardstown,
KY-September 27, 2008- It was the 2008 season finale event at Bluegrass Speedway
on Saturday evening and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would score his fourth 44
Auto Mart Super Late Model feature victory of the season, while Johnny Cecil of
Balltown, KY would score his first Street Stock win of the year in the $300 to
win special for the division. Josh
Lucas of Bardstown, KY would win his first Bluegrass main event of the season in
Kentucky Cooperage Modified action, with Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY winning his
fourth WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman feature of the year.
The
25 lap 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature would come to green with Dustin
Neat taking the race lead, with Aaron Hatton and Jeff Watson second and third,
with Bryant Woodcock slide up in front of Lee Devasier for fourth on lap 1.
Neat would put some distance on Hatton quickly, while Devasier dogged
Woodcock for fourth. The first
caution would wave on lap 4 and it would be for Woodcock, who spun in turn two
and damaged his machine and was finished for the night.
Back underway, only a couple of laps would be scored before Jeff Watson
drew the caution with a flat right rear tire on lap 6.
The restart would be null and void as Larry Greer would make contact with
the guardrail in turn two, finishing his evening.
The restart would keep Neat out front, with Hatton and Devasier in
positions two and three, while Louis Brady and Doodle Farris would run fourth
and fifth. Watson would charge back
into the top five with fresh rubber on lap 9, as Neat pulled away from Hatton
with 10 laps scored. Watson would
battle with Brady for fourth, with Brady winning the battle by lap 14, as Neat
would continue to maintain a sizable lead over Hatton.
But Hatton would begin to slowly reel in Neat by lap 18 as the caution
would for the final time on lap 21 when Jeff Watson’s machine blew off a
radiator cap, putting fluid down on the track and ending Watson’s night.
The final few laps saw Hatton challenge Neat, with Hatton jumping the
cushion in turn one on the final lap. But
the race was not done as Neat exited turn four, the right rear tire on his
machine came apart and Neat would limp to the checkered flag first, nosing
Hatton by just the nosepiece on the race car.
Neat’s victory came aboard his NWN Distributing/Neat
Distributing/Kentucky Proud/Begley Properties/Tarter Gate Company/Barnett
Construction/Wayne Bowen Racing Supply/SHY Suspensions sponsored #25 MasterSbilt
Race Cars, Estes Race Engines powered machine.
Hatton would finish second, while Devasier, Brady, and Kevin Colston
completed the top five. Neat was
also top qualifier and the dash winner, while Greer won the heat.

the 15 lap, $300 to win Street Stock main event, Johnny Cecil would grab the
lead at the start and would survive two caution flags and a red flag to claim
his first win of the season and a $300 payday behind the wheel of his Guy’s
Building Supply/Eric Young’s Construction/BDM Collision Center/Craig Shoe
Company/M&M Get-N-Go sponsored #69 Ford Crown Victoria ride.
Last week’s winner Justin Trinkle would get by Jason Priddy for second
on lap 12 and would hang on for runner-up honors, with Priddy coming home in
third. Terry Greenwell and Nick
Wallace would round out the top five. Robbie
Settles was the division’s top qualifier, with Justin Trinkle winning the
dash, while Nick Wallace would take the checkered flag in the division’s heat
race event.
Josh
Lucas would take the lead at the start of the 20 lap Kentucky Cooperage Modified
main event and survive a trio of cautions and a battle with Jason Wheatley for
the first 15 lap of the race until Wheatley slowed with less than five laps
remaining. This would give Lucas
all the breathing room he would need and the former multi-time track champion
would visit victory lane at Bluegrass Speedway for the first time in 2008 in the
Lucas Family Racing owned, Lucas Oil Products/The Car Pool/D&R Oil/Riggs

Illinois visitor Blake Cook would claim fourth, with Rocky Wilson completing the
top five. Heat race victories would
go to Lucas and Dion Benningfield.
In
the 15 lap Sportsman feature, it would be the Pat Hagan and Roger Cecil show,
with Hagan keeping Cecil at bay over the final five laps of this event to pick
up his fourth win of the season in the Billy Holbert owned, Century 21/New Haven
Car Wash/New Haven NAPA/New Haven Quik Stop/Holbert Record Setters sponsored #88
Chevy Monte Carlo. Cecil would see
his five race win streak stopped and would take second, with Sam Huffer coming
home in third. Completing the top
