Bluegrass Speedway Off August 9 and 16; Lucas Oil Series Up Next on August 23      

 

Bardstown, KY-August 3, 2008- Bluegrass Speedway will closed the next two Saturday evenings on August 9 and August 16, but action will return to the David and Anita Ferrell promoted ½ mile clay oval located just minutes from beautiful and historic Bardstown, KY on Saturday August 23.  The event will be the 8th Annual Bluegrass Classic, featuring the national travelers of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in a 60 lap, $10,000 to win event that will be taped by the television cameras of SPEED TV. 

 

The Saturday August 23 racing program will feature the Super Late Models of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, dash, B-Mains, and the 60 lap, $10,000 to win 8th Annual Bluegrass Classic.  Also in action at Bluegrass Speedway on August 23 will be the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman and Street Stocks, while the Kentucky Cooperage Modifieds will have the evening off.  The Super Late Model division will be the only class that will time trial at this event, with the Sportsman and Street Stock divisions will pill draw for heat race starting assignments.

 

Activities for the racing event on Saturday August 23 will see all gates open one hour earlier than normal, with the pit area will open at 3:00 p.m., while the grandstand area will be open at 4:00 p.m.  The driver’s meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with hot laps set to go at 6:30 p.m., time trials for the Super Late Models will go at 7:00 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m.  Ticket prices will be $25 in the general admission area for adults, children ages 6 to 12 will be $10, and children under age 6 will be free.  Admission to the pit area will be $35.               

 

Bluegrass Speedway will once again be an associate of the Contingency Connection program for the 2008 race season, which allows those drivers who sign up, at no cost to the drivers, to be eligible for valuable product discounts and other prizes.  For 2008, the Contingency Connection will award over $150,000 in prizes through their program across the country at the 60 oval tracks involved in this prestigious program.  Winners for August 2 included Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY in Super Late Models, Johnny Lee of Raywick, KY in Modifieds and Joe David Humphrey of Loretto, KY in Street Stocks. 

 

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on August 2 and feature event winners for that evening included Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Kentucky Cooperage Modifieds, and Terry Greenwell of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.                                                          

 

Track championship points leaders heading into the August 23 racing program are Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Kentucky Cooperage Modifieds, Roger Cecil of Bardstown, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman, and Jason Priddy of Weasetown, KY and Robbie Settles of Bardstown, KY are tied for the points lead in Street Stocks.
