Speedway’s Bourbon City Summer Sizzler for Modifieds $3,500 to win August 22
Bardstown,
KY-August 16, 2009- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell
will present the richest Modified event in the 15-year history of Bluegrass
Speedway on Saturday evening August 22 with the running of the Bourbon City
Summer Sizzler event, which will pay $3,500 to the winner of the Modified A-Main
feature.
The
Saturday August 22 program will feature the Modified division in their biggest
event ever at Bluegrass Speedway. The
racing program for the Modifieds will feature practice, time trials, quick-six
dash, heats, B-Mains, and the 35 lap, $3,500 to win Bourbon City Summer Sizzler
A-Main Modified feature event. With
this being an unsanctioned event, it will feature
the Bluegrass Speedway Hoosier-only tire, with the Hoosier
tire compounds of A and/or H being the only legal tire compounds and must be
used on the front and rear of the race cars.
There will also be a $100 entry fee for this event.
Also
on note, the SCORA Non-Wing Sprint Cars have cancelled their portion of the
program to due illness in series founder Sam Stockton’s family, so that will
see the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman and Street Stock now on the August 22 Bourbon
City Summer Sizzler racing card to provide support division action that evening.
For
the August 22 racing event, the Modified division will receive two laps of time
trials, while the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman and Street Stock divisions will pill
draw for heat race starting assignments. The
44 Auto Mart Super Late Models will have the evening off on August 22 and there
will be no track points awarded in any divisions of competition on August 22.
Activities
for the Saturday August 22 event will have the pit area opening at 4:00 p.m. and
the grandstand area opening at 5:00 p.m. A
mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set
to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials
will get underway at 7:00 p.m., while racing will see the green flag at or
before 8:00 p.m. For the August 15
event, ticket prices in the grandstand area will be $15 for adults, $8 for
children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free.
A pit pass will be $30.
The
Bourbon City Summer Sizzler Modified A-Main event on Saturday August 22 will
have the following payoff: 1st-
$3,500, 2nd- $2,500, 3rd- $1,500, 4th- $1,000,
5th- $800, 6th- $700, 7th- $600, 8th-
$500, 9th- $450, 10th- $400, 11th- $350, 12th-
$300, 13th- $250, 14th- $240, 15th- $230, 16th-
$220, 17th- $210, 18th through 24th- $200.
All drivers that attempt to run a B-Main, but do not qualify for the
A-Main, will receive $50 tow money.
Bluegrass
Speedway is also proud to be one of only 60 tracks in the nation to have the
prestigious Contingency Connection national contingency program for our racers
in 2009. The Contingency Connection
will have over $50,000
in national contingency postings up for grabs.

Speedway last raced on August 15 and feature event winners for that event
included Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models,
Avral Thompson of Loretto, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman, and Johnny Cecil of
Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks, while Modifieds had the night off.
Current
track championship points leaders heading into the August 22 racing program are
David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of
Loretto, KY in Modifieds, Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman,
and Johnny Cecil of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.
