Speedway Idle August 8; National All Star Racing Association Next on August 15
Bardstown,
KY-August 2, 2009- Bluegrass Speedway will be closed this Saturday August 8, but
track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will return with “Saturday Night
Showtime” on Saturday August 15 with a first-time event for the newly formed
National All Star Racing Association, headed by legendary chassis builder C.J.
Rayburn. The event will be the
Jerry Ross Memorial and will feature the NASRA Late Models in a 30 lap, $3,000
to win event.
The
Saturday August 15 program will feature the National All Star Racing Association
in the Jerry Ross Memorial event, which will be a 30 lap, $3,000 to win event.
Also in action on the August 15 Jerry Ross Memorial racing program will
be the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman ($200 to win) and Street Stocks ($100 to win),
while the Modified division will have the night off.
For the August 15 contest, the Late Model and Street Stock divisions will
time trial, while the Sportsman will pill draw for heat race starting
assignments.
Activities
for the Saturday August 15 event will have the pit area opening at 4:00 p.m. and
the grandstand area opening at 5:00 p.m. A
mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set
to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials
will get underway at 7:00 p.m., while racing will see the green flag at or
before 8:00 p.m. For the August 15
event, ticket prices in the grandstand area will be $15 for adults, $8 for
children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free.
A pit pass will be $30.
The
National All Star Racing Association is the brainchild of legendary chassis
builder C.J. Rayburn. It will allow
the Late Models that utilize the Crate engines to compete with the regular
engines used in most current Super Late Model sanctioning groups.
The tire rule for the event is any Hoosier or American Racer compound
tire which will durometer a minimum of 58.

National All Star Racing Association Jerry Ross Memorial A-Main event on
Saturday August 15 will have the following payoff:
1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $1,000, 4th-
$800, 5th- $750, 6th- $700, 7th- $650, 8th-
$600, 9th- $550, 10th- $500, 11th- $450, 12th-
$400, 13th- $375, 14th- $350, 15th- $325, 16th-
$300, 17th- $290, 18th- $280, 19th- $270, 20th-
$260, 21st through 24th- $250.

Speedway is also proud to be one of only 60 tracks in the nation to have the
prestigious Contingency Connection national contingency program for our racers
in 2009. The Contingency Connection
will have over $50,000
in national contingency postings up for grabs.

Speedway last raced on Saturday August 1 and feature event winners included
Victor Lee of Stanford, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Jason Wheatley of
Loretto, KY in Modifieds, and Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM
Sportsman, while Street Stocks had the night off.
Current
track championship points leaders heading into the August 15 racing program are
David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of
Loretto, KY in Modifieds, Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman,
and Johnny Cecil of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.
