Bluegrass Speedway Now Host Battle of the Bluegrass Super Late Models and Shorty Gardner Memorial on June 20

Bardstown, KY-June 14, 2009- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will again present another evening of “Saturday Night Showtime” this Saturday June 20 with the 6th Annual Shorty Gardner Memorial, paying $500 to win for the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman and also the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Models will now join the racing program as well on June 20 for the Clayton Homes of Stanford 30.

The Saturday June 20 program will feature a full program of action for the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series, with the 30 lap, $3,000 to win Clayton Homes of Stanford 30 highlighting the Super Late Model portion of the program. The WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman division will also be highlighted in their biggest event of the year at Bluegrass Speedway, the 6th Annual Shorty Gardner Memorial, presented in memory of the late Mr. Gardner who was a long-time supporter of the Sportsman division at the ½ mile high-banked clay oval, paying $500 to win. Also in action on Saturday June 20 will be Modifieds ($500 to win) and Street Stocks ($100 to win). The Super Late Model and Sportsman divisions will time trial at this event, while the Modified and Street Stocks classes will pill draw for heat race starting assignments.

Previous winners of the Shorty Gardner Memorial event include Bo Wilson of Bloomfield, KY (2004), Danny Blackwell of Taylorsville, KY (2005), Kevin Wilson of Versailles, KY (2006), Jimmy Bryan of New Haven, KY (2007), and Roger Cecil of Bardstown, KY (2008).

Activities for the Saturday June 20 event will have the pit area opening at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand area opening at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:00 p.m., while racing will see the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m. For the Saturday June 20 event, general admission in the grandstand area will now be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free. A pit pass will be $30.

Bluegrass Speedway is also proud to be one of only 60 tracks in the nation to have the prestigious Contingency Connection national contingency program for our racers in 2009. The Contingency Connection will have over $50,000 in national contingency postings up for grabs.

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on Saturday June 13 and feature event winners included David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Modifieds, and Shane Lafollette of Hodgenville, KY in Street Stocks, while the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman were off.

Current track championship points leaders heading into the June 20 racing program are Jason Keltner of Campbellsville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Raywick, KY in Modifieds, Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman, and Johnny Cecil of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.
