Bluegrass Speedway Off May 2; Jerry Rucker Memorial Up Next on Saturday May 9

 

Bardstown, KY-April 26, 2009- Bluegrass Speedway will be closed this Saturday evening May 2, but track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will resume “Saturday Night Showtime” on Saturday evening May 9 when they present the 6th Annual Jerry Rucker Memorial event, which will pay $2,000 for the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model division.            

 

With the engines silent on May 2, the focus will shift to the Saturday May 9 program that will showcase the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model division in the 6th Annual Jerry Rucker Memorial event, paying $2,000 to win the 30 lap main event.  Also on the May 9 racing docket will be a full program of weekly racing series competition for the Modifieds ($500 to win), WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman ($200 to win), and Street Stocks ($100 to win).  The Super Late Model and Sportsman divisions will time trial at this event, with the Modified and Street Stock divisions earning heat race starting assignments via the pill draw.

 

Activities for the Saturday May 9 event will see all functions return to regular times, with the pit area opening at 4:00 p.m. and the grandstand area opening at 5:00 p.m.  A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m.  Time trials will get underway at 7:00 p.m., while racing will see the green flag at or before 8:00 p.m.  For the Saturday May 9 event, general admission in the grandstand area will be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 are free.  A pit pass will be $30.    

 

Bluegrass Speedway is also proud to be one of only 60 tracks in the nation to have the prestigious Contingency Connection national contingency program for our racers in 2009.  The Contingency Connection will have over $50,000 in national contingency postings up for grabs.  

                                  

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on Saturday April 25 and feature event winners included Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY in Modifieds, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks, while the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman were off. 

 

Current track championship points leaders heading into the May 9 racing program are Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Michael England of Glasgow, KY in Modifieds, Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in Street Stocks.
