World of Outlaws Invade Bluegrass Speedway for My Old KY Home Shootout April 30
Bardstown, KY-April 21, 2011- For the second straight season, the World of
Outlaws Late Model Series will bring their brand of wide-open, fire-breathing
Super Late Model action to the Bluegrass State as the national travelers of the
World of Outlaws tour invade Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday April 30 for the 9th
Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series visit on Saturday April 30 will feature a
full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 50
lap, $10,000 to win 9th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout A-Main.
Providing support division action for this event will be the Country 100.9 MIKE
FM UMP Modifieds, racing 20 laps for $800 to win in their main event. For
the April 30 event, the Super Late Models and UMP Modifieds will time trial,
while the UMP Sportsman and UMP Street Stocks have the evening off.
Activities at Bluegrass Speedway for the April 30 event World of Outlaws Late
Model Series event will see gates times and start times be earlier than normal.
The pit area will open at 2:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open
at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 5:00 p.m., with
practice set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 6:00
p.m., with racing set for the green flag at or before 7:00 p.m. Ticket
prices for the April 30 event in the general admission area will be $25 for
adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, with children age 5 and under free.
A pit pass will be $35.
The My Old Kentucky Home Shootout event first appeared on the Bluegrass Speedway
schedule in 2003 and former WoO Late Model Series champion Darrell Lanigan of
Union, KY would win the inaugural event back in 2003. In 2004, Shannon
Babb of Moweaqua, IL would score the race win, while Rick Corbin of
Independence, KY would take the win in the 2005 event that saw NASCAR’s Tony
Stewart participate in the race and finish 13th, followed by a victory by
Batavia, OH resident Rick Combs in the 2006 event. Another former World of
Outlaws champion, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, would take the win in the 2007
contest, while former track champion David Webb of Nicholasville, KY would win
the race in 2008. The WoO travelers first visited Bluegrass for this
contest in 2009 and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN would claim the race win and is
the defending race champion.
Defending track champion Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY is expected to lead
the local contingent of Bluegrass Speedway competitors expected to attempt to
defend their home turf. Other Bluegrass Speedway drivers expected to
contend at this event include Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY, Dustin Neat of
Dunnville, KY, Lee Devasier of Crestwood, KY, Aaron Hatton of Mount Sterling,
KY, Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, Jarryd Holshouser of Boaz, KY, Tim
Rivers of Salem, IN, Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN, and Joey Jones of Borden,
IN.
Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of
Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass)
Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt
track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through
