American Modified Series Comes to Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday May 15
Bardstown, KY-May 9, 2010- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita
Ferrell will again present racing action this Saturday May 15 as the American
Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner makes its
inaugural visit to the ½ mile, high-banked Nelson County clay for the 10th
Annual Mod Squad Bash, paying $1,500 to win for UMP Modifieds.
On Saturday May 15, the American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and
Engine Conditioner will sanction the 10th Annual Mod Squad Bash, featuring full
program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap,
$1,500 to win 10th Annual Mod Squad Bash A-Main. Also in competition on May 15
will be the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, racing for $1,000 to win and the
WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman, racing for $200 to win, while the UMP Street Stocks
will have the evening off. The Super Late Models and UMP Modifieds will time
trial at the event, while the UMP Sportsman will pill draw for heat race
starting assignment.
Activities for the May 15 Mod Squad Bash event for the American Modified Series
presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner will see the pit area open at
4:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory
drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. Practice will begin at 6:30 p.m.,
with time trials at 7:00 p.m., followed green flag race action at or before 8:00
p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices on May 15 will $15 for adults, $8 for
children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 free in the general admission
area. A pit pass will cost $30.
The Mod Squad Bash was first introduced to the Bluegrass Speedway schedule in
2001 and former track champion Joe Mattingly of New Hope, KY would win that
event. Another former track champion, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY, would win the
2002 installment of the race. Yet another former track champion, Josh Lucas of
Bardstown, KY, would claim the race win in 2003. Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY
would claim his only win to date at Bluegrass Speedway in the 2004 race, while
Ted Nobbe of Batesville, IN would win his only event to date at Bluegrass in the
event in 2005. Lightning Chassis builder Don Adams of London, KY would score the
race victory in 2006, with Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN being the only two-time
winner of the race with back-to-back checkered flags in 2007 and 2008. Randle
Sweeney of Clifty, KY is the defending race champion, having won the race in
2009.
Bluegrass Speedway last raced on May 8 and feature event winners included Jimmy
Owens of Newport, TN in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Barry Chesser of
Bloomfield, KY in WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman, and Shane Lafollette of
Hodgenville, KY in UMP Street Stocks, while UMP Modifieds were off.
Track championship points leader coming into the May 15 event are Dustin Neat of
Dunnville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in UMP
Modifieds, Barry Chesser of Bloomfield, KY in WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman, and
Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in UMP Street Stocks.
Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of
