Neat, Lee, Hagan, and Glazer 2010 Season Opener Winners at Bluegrass Speedway

Bardstown, KY-April 17, 2010- Bluegrass Speedway officially began its 16th season of dirt track racing on Saturday evening and 2010 Season Opener feature event winners would include Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in UMP Modifieds, Pat Hagan of New Haven, KY in WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in UMP Street Stocks.

Tim Tungate and Dustin Neat would bring the 25 lap 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature to the green flag, but a spin by Elton Martin would negate the initial start. The second start would see Tungate and Neat trade the lead on the opening lap before Neat seized the lead off of turn four. A spin on lap 3 by Dylan Preston would again slow the action, with Mike Jewell able to drive past Lee Devasier on the restart, while Jeff Watson rode in fifth. Jewell would pressure Tungate for the second before misfortune hit Tungate as he contacted the wall in turn one to draw the third caution of the race. The restart would see Jewell slidejob past Neat in turn one, only to have Neat dive back beneath Jewell exiting turn two as only one more circuit completed as Michael Chilton would roll to a stop in turn one. The restart would see Jewell attempt to dive beneath Neat again for the lead, but Neat would keep Jewell at bay this time. By lap 15, Neat began to pull away from Jewell at the point. A final caution would wave on lap 23 for a spin by Preston in turn two to tighten up the pack. The restart would see Devasier, Hatton, and Arnie Fields go three-wide for the third spot, with Hatton coming out with position, while Fields would go to fourth. Neat would lead the rest of the way to score the win in his Red Buck Cigars/Neat’s Service Center/D&R Livestock sponsored #25 MasterSbilt Race Car, Estes Race Engines powered mount. The remainder of the top five would be Jewell, 11th starting Hatton, Fields, and Devasier. Completing the top ten were 20th starting Justin Rattliff, Jeff Watson, Aaron Ridley, Johnny Wheeler, and Christian Rayburn. Jewell would be the top qualifier among 20 entries, with Tungate winning the dash, while heat wins fell to Rayburn and Fields.

The 20 lap UMP Modified main event would turn into the Benji Lee and Jason Wheatley show for the race lead and win, with Wheatley trying valiantly on numerous occasions to dive beneath Lee for the top spot, but Lee would hold the preferred line on the topside of the racing surface and would survive a late race caution with four laps remaining to capture the season opening open-wheel feature victory behind the wheel of his Thompson Heating and Air/Smart Shoppers/On Time Courier/On Time Construction/ Springfield NAPA/Kirker Automotive Finishes/St. Joe Garage/B&B Motorsports/Johnny’s Fluffy Cat Farm sponsored #03 Bandit Race Cars, Dale Meers Race Engines powered machine. Wheatley would take runner-up honors, with Jacob Webber claiming third. First-time visitor Bryan Fiscus would make a last lap pass of Randy Turpin to claim fourth, with Turpin scoring the fifth position. The remainder of the top ten would be Josh Lucas, Doodle Farris, Randall Basham, Adam Cole, and Miguel Coffey. Lee would be the division’s top qualifier among 18 entries, with Brad Schlosser claiming the dash win, while Robbie Gullion and J.T. Ayers were the heat winners.

Pat Hagan would be the dominant force in the 15 lap WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman main event and drive away to an easy victory as the defending track champion would pilot the Billy Holbert owned #88 Chevy Monte Carlo sponsored by Willard’s Heating and Air/New Haven NAPA/New Haven Quick Stop/New Haven Car Wash/Holbert’s Auto Recovery. Barry Chesser would take the second position at the finish, with Avral Thompson claiming third place honors. Billy Meredith would garner fourth place honors, while Robbie Settles would loop his machine of the final, but score the final position in the top five of the running order. Hagan also scored the heat race victory.

The 12 lap UMP Street Stock feature event would also see another dominating performance in the form of Timmy Glazer as Glazer would take the lead at the drop of the green flag and never be headed in scoring the feature event checkered flag in his Independent Stave Company/Cecil Transmissions/Sam Murphy Race Engines sponsored #93. Brad Leake would finish in the second position as Jason Bartley would take third place at the finish. Shane Lafollette would come home in fourth, with Joe Walker rounding out the top five. Glazer was also the heat race winner.
